Mobile renewable energy storage system pioneering sustainable power solutions for modern workspaces. Compact, transportable design powers office workstations for 2-3 days while contributing to grid stabilization.

Yill is a mobile energy storage system and part of a pioneering energy concept from Younicos AG. It is designed to provide renewable energy in a controlled manner where a stable power connection is not always available. It can power a modern office workstation for 2-3 days. So far, the increase of renewable energy in the grid has been limited because wind and solar energy are fluctuating and not always available. In the future, storage systems like Yill will help to significantly and sustainably increase the share of renewable energy: By acting as a storage unit in the grid and balancing peak loads, Yill helps to integrate more renewable energy into the system.

The design aims to combine functionality with aesthetics, to fit seamlessly into the working environment, while being compact, transportable and easy to use. The project was first presented at the Salone del Mobile 2011 in Milan, an installation that was designed, managed and (dis)assembled from start to finish. In the same year, Yill won the red dot design award in the "best of the best" category.
